Holly Embke, a Research Fish Biologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Midwest Climate Adaptation Science Center (MW CASC), was interviewed on Wisconsin Public Radio on June 23, 2022.

Embke’s MW CASC-funded research is focused on how climate change is affecting walleye, an economically and culturally important fish in Wisconsin and the rest of the Upper Lakes Region. While walleye populations in the region have been declining since the early 2000s, Embke and her team are investigating “bright spots” – places where, thanks to innovative management, walleye fisheries are thriving.

Listen to Embke discuss this research and how it can inform climate-smart fisheries management on Wisconsin Public Radio.
