Sean Dorr is an enrolled member of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, is of the Marten Clan, and a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Working in the contexts of K-12 curriculum development and tribal natural resource management, his research agenda addresses the communication gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous data experts via decolonized design processes and uncolonized computing technologies. Grounded in Ojibwe values, Critical Indigenous Theory, and Design Justice, Sean’s work centers Indigenous ways of knowing in the creation of immersive Indigenous data experiences and web-based authoring systems to enhance dialogue and facilitate collaboration among data relatives.
