2025-2026 MW CASC Graduate Student
Indiana University-Bloomington
Young Oh is a doctoral student fellow at Indiana University-Bloomington. His project focuses on how tree roots influence soil organic matter dynamics in forests. Specifically, Young focuses on the degree to which root traits affect a rarely-measured physiological function, root exudation (of carbon) and the consequences of new fine-root growth in soil organic matters, using root-ingrowth cores and isotopically labeled organic matters.
Young is originally from South Korea. He earned her bachelor's degree in Environmental Science at University of Washington and moved to Indiana University-Bloomington where he completed his master's in Environmental science and is now pursuing Ph.D degree.
Research Topic: Assessing tree roots' impacts on soil organic matter dynamics
