University of Wisconsin - Madison

Michelle Homann (she/they) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Michelle studies the intersecting effects of management decisions and winter climate change on restored tallgrass prairie plant communities. Through her research, she has examined re-emergence phenology, growth, and flowering in established perennial plants, as well as seeded species emergence and survival as responses reduced winter snow cover and disturbance type and timing. Michelle values opportunities to co-create science with restoration practitioners and plans to continue working closely with managers and stakeholders throughout her science career.

Michelle earned her BS from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and became interested in the research side of grassland restoration after spending a summer as a Land Management Intern with the Mississippi Valley Conservancy in La Crosse, WI.
