Event Type: Science Seminar
Location: Virtual
The MW CASC Science Seminar on Monday, January 22 at 12pm CT will feature three PIs on current climate adaptation research projects. Through presentations and conversation, they'll share updates on their projects and notable research findings.
Speakers:
Dan Isermann University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, USGS Wisconsin Cooperative Fishery Research Unit Dan is the Unit Leader of the Wisconsin Cooperative Fishery Research Unit. His research focuses on the population dynamics and management of exploited fish populations, with special emphasis on the estimation of fish age and growth and the evaluation of harvest regulations and stocking.
Daniel Griffin University of Minnesota Daniel is an Associate Professor in Geography at the University of Minnesota and Affiliated Faculty at the Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory. He specializes in developing tree-ring records from old-growth forests and using these data to study climate process and environmental history.
Owen McKenna USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center Owen is a Research Ecologist at the USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center and a Visiting Scientist with the Midwest Climate Adaptation Science Center. Owen’s research is focused studying how changes in climate and land use can alter the hydrology and geochemistry of prairie-pothole wetlands.
Moderator: Desi Robertson-Thompson Midwest Climate Adaptation Science Center Desi is the Research Coordinator for the MW CASC. Most recently, Desi’s work has focused on pollinator conservation, and the restoration and management of their habitats. She is especially interested in the integration of climate science into insect conservation. |
