Naresh Neupane is an Assistant Research Professor at Georgetown University in the Biology Department. He completed his PhD in 2015 in Atmospheric Science, where he focused on understanding the impact of global warming upon the Earth's climate using both regional and general circulation models. He is now working in a collaborative group to forecast responses of Lepidoptera to climate projections, which he builds specifically on the ecological factors most important to each species. He personally focuses his independent research on the migratory monarch and other butterfly species, but also supports the research of multiple projects in a network of collaborative labs.

Naresh develops statistical and mathematical models of insect migration and vegetation phenology. In addition, he uses machine learning models and artificial intelligence techniques to predict the timing of vegetation greenness and caterpillar instar recognition.
