Institute on the Environment Postdoctoral Associate 

Dr. Patrick I. Hancock (he/him) is an engineering researcher and educator with a passion for social justice, sustainability, and actioning science. He is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota Institute on the Environment. His work leverages systems engineering principles and behavioral science insights to develop engineering approaches that enhance social and environmental outcomes through design. He received his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Saint Cloud State University, MS in Systems Engineering from the University of Saint Thomas, and PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia.

In addition to his academic experience, Patrick has professional experience in engineering production, manufacturing, and design. His research has been featured in journals such as the International Journal of Engineering, Social Justice and Peace, American Psychologist, and Nature Sustainability. Additionally, his work has been featured in outlets like The Conversation, Grist, and Anthropocene.
